Framework: Building Community

For all three generations of the Idell family, Greeneville and Greene County is and has been home. The Idell family knows and appreciates that they are a part of a larger developing and growing community. With this in mind, Idell Construction Co., Inc. desires to see itself not only as a business, but a contributor to the growth and well-being of Greene County. We understand that the construction process takes time and material, but it also takes connections and community. We want to build in such a way that invests in the quality of both infrastructure and relationships, ultimately effecting a lasting and positive impact on our community and continuing to enhance Greeneville and Greene County as a beautiful and comfortable place to live. With this as a framework, this page outlines and summarizes our intentions and approach to how we do business.

Our Mission

As we build, “We do what is right and treat people right and with love.”
– Billy Idell

In 1987, Billy Idell founded Idell Construction Co., Inc. not only as a move to provide and care for his family, but to impact the lives of the community around him.  A man grounded in his Christian faith, loving others was core to his approach to family, community, and work.  It is a mentality he passed on to his sons and grandsons, and it remains the backbone of how we at Idell Construction do business and is reflected in our core values. We are building our community, a process that involves loving our neighbors, whether they be lifelong citizens of Greene County, families that have relocated to the area, or those of you who are looking to make East Tennessee your new home.

“For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man.”

– 2 Corinthians 8:21

Our Vision

We aspire to create a legacy built on strong foundations for both families and the community.

At Idell Construction, we build with legacy in mind; we aren’t just building for today, we’re building for tomorrow. How will our actions, our choices, and our work carry on into the future of our community? How will our relationships today affect and impact the relationships of tomorrow? How will the work of our hands stand the test of time and impact the community of Greene County for generations to come?  What will be handed down to our children and our children’s children? These are questions we consider as we invest in our community and in our clients, knowing that each thing we do can and will have lasting impacts. May ours be the one that helps our families and community thrive in the years to come.

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” -Joshua 24:15

Our Core Values

The following are our Core Values, the framework with which we approach how we do business, how we care for one another, and how we serve our clients. Like the details in our blueprints and building proposals, this outline outlines what you can expect from our team as we design, manage, and construct your project.

Faith

We recognize that everything we are, everything we do, and everything we have is only through the grace and provision of God.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” – Proverbs 16:3

Legacy Mindset

Not only do we want to be proud of the work we do, but we want you to feel proud of the product we provide.

“And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men.” – Colossians 3:23

Integrity

We desire to make the building experience as stress-free as possible by being candid and honest all the way through.

“To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” – Proverbs 21:3

Gratitude

We take nothing for granted, remaining grateful for each blessing, relationship, and opportunity that shapes our lives.

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

– 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Family

We encourage our staff to create strong family foundations as we build lasting homes for our client’s families.

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” – Romans 12:10

A Tribute to Our Founder

Billy Dean Idell founded Idell Construction Co., Inc. in 1987, in a career move based in faith in God’s provision and a desire to provide the best he could for his family. Working alongside his sons and eventually his grandsons, Billy was never far from a jobsite, and in his later years, he enjoyed personally visiting each site, connecting with his boys and interacting with subcontractors. Billy passed in January of 2018, but the Idell Family carries on his legacy, remembering him as a life-long coach, tireless leader, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. The mission, vision, and core values that Idell Construction Co., Inc. hold to are greatly inspired by its founder, and without Billy’s inspiration, guidance, and example, his sons and grandsons would not be the men and leaders they are today. He is fondly remembered as often saying, “Just don’t get excited” and “Ain’t God good!”

Not only do we approach each project with integrity, we also desire to take pride in each project’s completion, aspiring to bring quality of workmanship from start to finish.
