The Idell Commitment to Quality

The quality of our product and the satisfaction of our clients underline every stage and facet of our work. Idell Construction is intentional about “putting ourselves in the owner’s shoes” and reviewing each aspect of the project on a personal level. Not only do we approach each project with integrity, we also desire to take pride in each project’s completion, aspiring to bring quality of workmanship from start to finish. All personnel from the project executive to each individual in the field know that our continued success is dependent upon delivering a product that exceeds the expectations of the owner.

History

In the fall of 1987, a care-worn and weary Billy Idell, inspired to act in faith on a hope and a dream to do better for himself and his family, made a drastic career move. Through friends and contacts in the community, and through what Billy passionately believed was God’s provision, he acquired a vehicle and tools that equipped him to begin developing concrete projects in and around Greene County. Within a few months, his two sons Mike and Jeff made the same move, joining their father in the business. Those early years saw projects spanning from a foundation for a coal-mine washer to building foundations and parking lots for a variety of commercial and industrial businesses. Projects continued to line up, equipment was invested in, and the company grew.

Billy Idell passed away in early 2018, but his legacy continues through his sons Mike and Jeff along with three sons between them, Matt, Eric, and Josh. They continue to carry out and expand upon Billy’s hopes and dreams, not only to do better for their families, but to invest in their community as a whole. Aside from developing over one hundred new homes for local families or those moving into the area, Idell Construction Co., Inc. has also constructed such projects as The Greene County Humane Society, the Tusculum College Baseball Stadium, The Greeneville High School Football Field, multiple Marathon Gas Stations, and the Unity Urology building, to name a few.

The Idell Construction Mission

Every successful project starts with a plan. At Idell Construction, before beginning a project, we meet with the client to understand what the project will entail. With these details discussed, blueprints are prepared, and an itemized proposal outlines all material and financial expectations for the project. Between these two documents, both our team and our client know as much as possible about the process before moving forward.

Similarly, building a good company starts with a plan, a set of blueprints that structures our processes, guides our team, and shapes our goals in an effort to conscientiously and successfully deliver a product that satisfies our customers. Here at Idell Construction, we know that being prepared and planning ahead govern a project’s success, and we believe that putting in the necessary work and effort on the front end ultimately pays off.

When it comes to building your next home or project, it is crucial that you feel comfortable with and trust your builder. We want to be transparent about how we operate, how we approach doing business, and how we work with our clients. Our team subscribes to a distinct mission, a specific vision, and a set of core values that shape how we perform our work, in the office and in the field. The Family

Jeff Idell, Chief Executive Officer

Jeff acts as the Chief Executive Officer, personally taking and returning calls with prospective clients, warmly and generously doing all he can to help people to achieve their dreams, whether it is building a new home in Greene County or developing a commercial business project. Jeff’s heart is to invest in his family and in his community. He often looks for ways to participate in philanthropic ventures, such as working with the Isaiah 117 House, Young Life, and the Hope Center, as well as investing in local schools and educational programs. With his wife Lisa, Jeff has two sons, Josh and Jordan.

Mike Idell, Chief Operations Officer

Mike specializes in the management and development of commercial projects and properties, as well as maintaining the fleet of vehicles and equipment. He also supervises and administrates work site safety education and procedures for the company. His vast experience in commercial development and his connections in the community aid in insuring all our work is done efficiently and according to all local building codes and standards. Mike also seeks to invest both in his family and his community, serving on the board for the Greene County Fairgrounds and as the Chairman of the Trustee Board at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Mike, along with his wife Regina who works as the company’s office manager have two sons, Matt and Eric.

Matt Idell, Project Manager

Matt, Mike’s elder son, has managed and coordinated the building of both residential and commercial projects and has often been in the role of juggling multiple projects at once. As the eldest of the third generation of Idell’s, he specializes in the efficient management of the building process. He is often coordinating with suppliers to get the best quality for finished products, such as paint, flooring, and trim material. Matt with his wife Emily have three children, Parker, Olivia, and Hudson.

Eric Idell, Project Management and Excavation

You will most often see Eric driving equipment, digging footings and underground utilities with the excavator, or shaping the property for final grade with the skid steer. Eric has been working with heavy equipment since he could walk, riding with his dad in the early days of the company. Running equipment has become second nature to Eric. Although this is his primary focus and expertise, Eric has also been involved in every other area of the construction process, from framing, hanging doors, and trim work to managing projects and coordinating with subcontractors. Eric, with his wife Claire have two boys, Cole and Jack, and another on the way!

Josh Idell, Project Management and Design

Like his cousins, Josh has been in the field working with the family since his youth. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology at East Tennessee State University, he started full time hands-on in the field and managing projects. Though often found in the field most specifically during the initial phases of foundation and framing, Josh’s role encompasses many aspects of the business, including but not limited to meeting with prospective clients, using Revit to draft building plans, working with suppliers and distributors, coordinating with subcontractors, office administration, marketing, and IT. Josh and his wife Madison have one son, Silas.
